Olympus Rising

It’s a busy summer and fall for our Matt Frewer and Sophia Lauchlin Hirt as they star in the new SyFy series Olympus.  Reunion Pictures is producing and creator Nick Willing helms this mythical tale about an Athens that is under attack by Minoan warriors from the outside and scheming assassins within its own walls.

Cable Ace and Gemini Award winning Frewer plays the iconic Daedalus, the brilliant architect and sculptor.  This isn’t Matt’s first rodeo with Willing, having worked with him before, starring as the White Knight on the SyFy mini-series Alice.  Matt says, “Nick Willing is not only a great friend, but a visionary talent. Olympus is the result of his singular, wildly creative voice. This guy never bunts to get on base. He swings for the fences. No fear.”

Matt has been very busy this year, shooting his second season of BBC America’s Orphan Black and recurring on TNT’s The Librarians alongside Noah Wylie and Rebecca Romjin.  He can also be seen opposite Clive Owen on Steven Soderbergh’s new highly rated Cinemax series The Knick.  Look for him in theatres this Christmas in Night at The Museum 3.

Sophia plays Ariadne, a calculating and manipulative smooth talker that men and women find irresistible.  This is sure to be a breakout role for Sophia who is new to Vancouver and fairly new to showbiz, having booked her first professional role last year on Discovery’s mini-series Klondike. “It is a pleasure to be working on Olympus with its team of dedicated cast and crew”, says Sophia.

We can’t wait to see what happens when great casting, cutting-edge special effects and the genius of Nick Willing all come together in Olympus.
