Submission Guidelines

Literary
Writers / Story Editors / Showrunners:
Please note, we work in the film and television industry. We are not book agents and do not have the appropriate contacts within the publishing industry to promote novelists effectively.

Before contacting us, you need to have met the following criteria:

1. Must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who is living in Western Canada.
2. Must have a number of writing samples, preferably a mix of original and spec material. We are most interested in television writers. Sorry, but we are not interested in a writer who has only written a single feature script.
3. Must have knowledge of the Canadian film and television industry. We find it helpful if a writer has taken screenwriting courses or attended film school in addition to having a practical knowledge of how the industry works.
4. Must have a collaborative personality. This is a people business! You must work well with others!

If you meet the above criteria, please phone or e-mail us to introduce yourself. If you e-mail us and we want further information, we will ask that you call us so you can pitch one of your projects. Yes – pitch! In this business, pitching is a skill every writer needs to have.

After we’ve spoken with you, and at our discretion, we may invite you to submit a writing sample for evaluation. We try to get back to writers within 2 or 3 weeks, but depending on the time of year, this may take a little longer. We appreciate your patience as we get through our submissions.

Directors
Before contacting us, you need to have met the following criteria:

2. Must have directed one or more television or feature productions and/or several short dramatic works. A demo reel is not necessary, but we may request to see examples of your work.
3. Must have attended film school or taken courses, in addition to having a working knowledge of the Canadian film and television industry.
4. Must have a collaborative personality. This is a people business! You must work well with others!

Editors / Cinematographers
We are currently interested in adding experienced editors and cinematographers to our roster.

Before contacting us, you need to have met the following criteria:

1. Must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who is living in Western Canada.
2. Must have credits on one or more television or feature productions and/or several short dramatic works. A demo reel is not necessary, but we may request to see examples of your work.
3. Must have attended film school or taken courses, in addition to having a working knowledge of the Canadian film and television industry.
4. Must have a collaborative personality. This is a people business! You must work well with others!

Actors

Lucas Talent represents professional actors. We are proud to represent some of Canada’s top talents. When we sign on a new young talent, odds are they have recently completed a recognized professional training program. Voice

We represent our clients for voice work in commercials, narration and animation.

Commercials
Although Lucas Talent provides representation to our talent for work in television commercials, some of our clients choose to do commercial work, some do not. It is their choice. Note that we do not represent clients solely for commercials.
